In case you didn’t know, August 15th is National Relaxation Day. So if you needed an excuse to relax, here it is.
How do you unwind after a long day, or rest after a long week? One way is to watch a movie. You get to put your feet up, grab some popcorn, and put on a classic film.
So in honor of National Relaxation Day, we decided to come up with a list of our top-5 favorite movies—starring bicycles.
1. Napoleon Dynamite
In this instantly classic film about a socially awkward teen in Idaho, Napoleon’s bike shines whenever it takes the screen.
The film is full of unforgettable lines, like “you got like 3 feet of air that time!"
2. The Goonies
This classic coming-of-age movie is a must-see.
Featuring some of the most loved actors of the 80s, The Goonies shows how we can take bikes on the journeys of our lives.
3. Stranger Things
Okay, this is not technically a movie; it is a binge-worthy series!
Following a group of friends as they navigate a big mystery in a small town, you will remember the thrill of riding your bike on an adventure when you watch.
4. The Wizard of Oz
One of the most iconic bicycle moments in cinematic history occurs in the Wizard of Oz.
Who can forget how they felt when Miss Gulch came down the road to scold Dorothy and her little dog?
The bike makes all the difference.
5. The Sound of Music
If you like musicals, you know what I’m talking about.
Julie Andrews leads a family of children on a special day trip. What would have been more ideal in the beauty of Austria than bicycles?
The famous scene for the song “Do-Re-Mi” surely would have been less without them.
Bicycles can take the screen just as well as any actor. We think they make characters come alive, and maybe even become characters themselves.
